Can I have some tips for selling stuff?
First of all, what towns and outposts are the best for selling mods, inscriptions, weapons, minis, etc.? Second, what are some good advertising methods that will work? I always try to sell stuff, but I never get any buyers. My storage is overflowing with weapon mods and other things that I just can't sell.

Kamadan and LA are (I believe) the current trading hotspots, what with being major port towns.
Sell threads here are one way of getting rid of a lot of upgrades, but it can take time. Advertising in Trade Chat, without any stupid exclamation marks or 'arrows' (eg '<' and '>'). Being able to fit the mods, if any, the req and skin name is a plus when advertising weapons and offhands. 'Undedicated' - a useful term for minis, as they sell for more when undedicated. |

Also most people will only buy low req (8-9) and perfect (mods) or inscribable items.
As for selling mods if they aren't perfect they aren't worth salvaging...if you get a shield that is -5(19%) its not worth the time to salvage it because it will take forever to sell. Also a good place to post a large amount of items is here in the guru sell forums. If it is req 12-13 or non max items sell them to merchant or give to guildies/heros. Just my bit of advice |

Selling is a very hard and long process. I've had a perfect axe since the end of 2005 and still havn't been able to sell it.
You could always give away to guildies/friends |

I find that the guru auctions reduce a lot of the trading hassles. You won't get quite as much for the items but you get more time playing because you don't spend time waiting for the buyer to show up. But you may have to log in at odd hours of the day to catch players in various timezones.

Also be specific in your ad. I ignore the others:
"WTS minipet 10k!!!!" Which minipet? If it's a mini Rurik I'm interested, if it's a mini pig I'm not and I'm not gonna waste my time pm'ing the seller just to find out it's probably a dedicated devourer. "WTS nice sword pm offer!!!" What does "nice sword" mean? What skin? What's the req? stats? Is it even gold? I pm'ed one of these guys and his reply was "offer first". No way am I going to make an offer on a weapon with unknown stats. Again, I ignore them and move on. |

Kamadan seems to be the hottest buy/sell town, followed closely by Lion's Arch. Kaineng Center is a distant 3rd, being used mostly by people who only have Factions.
It used to be that most of the buy/sell activity was in the first 1 or 2 districts of these towns, but now that the Search function has been added to the Party box, things are more spread out. The buyer and/or seller can be in any district. So, keeping the above in mind...... It used to be that people would do stuff like "WTS >>>>>>>>>> perfect omg! special sword <<<<<<<<<" and spam it several times. Nowadays, all that would show up in the Search window would be "WTS >>>>>>>>>> per" - which tells no-one anything. My advice would be - when you are trying to sell something, keep the Search box open and try to format your WTS so that the main features of the item are within the limited space in the Search box. For example "WTS req9 Gothic Sword, 20/20, h+30, inscribable, pm offers." would show up in the Search box as "WTS req9 Gothic Sword, 20/20" (or so) - but anyone, in any district, looking at the search box would know you have a Gothic Sword for sale and would whisper to you if they are interested. Conversely, don't be annoyed if someone PMs you asking something that was in your original WTS, they may be in another district and can't see Trade chat in your district. In your particular case, don't stand around in Kamadan spamming "WTS lots of weapon upgrades" Most people are looking for a particular upgrade and will try the guy who is selling the particular one first. Conversely, you could expect to answer a lot of "do you have such&such?" PMs. Try to get a few of the hottest selling ones into the Search box ("WTS 20/20 & +30 for axe" - for example) and don't change it too often, but often enough. Personally, I don't even have trade talk turned on any more, whether I'm buying or selling, because there's too much spam. I just use the Search. Of course, even easier than standing around in a town, you can use the buy/sell (and price check, for reference) forums or Auction system here on Guru to sell things.
